Vaughan tried avocado today. Still trying to figure out the best way to prepare this since the fruit oxidizes so quickly. Not sure if it is freezable.

Santa Claus

Today, we took Vaughan to meet Santa Claus! He stared at him and Mrs. Claus in bewilderment but WOULD NOT SMILE. I will say that it was time for his afternoon nap and this was the 2nd attempt (earlier Santa was out feeding the reindeer--and of course Vaughan was all smiles then!) He did a great job and Santa told us that he made the "nice" list.

Eight Months Old

* You just got your 8th (not a typo) tooth and have the sweetest smile.
* You wear size 2-3 diaper and mostly 9 month clothes (except pants, because you are so tall).
* You love to eat and just started feeding yourself puff cereal.
* You think you are hot stuff when you stand up with help.
* You are not crawling or walking---yet.
* Mom and Dad love you to death :)

Thanksgiving

Vaughan's first Thanksgiving was jam-packed with family. The highlight was getting to spend time with my Great Uncle JC and Great Aunt Sarah and their family who came in from Jackson, MS and Coral Gables, FL. Uncle JC is my grandmother, Vaughan's great-grandmother's, brother. He just turned 90 years old and is more active than most people my age! Our little turkey had a great day :)

One Year Ago Today

One year ago today we found out that baby Dow was a BOY. What an exciting day that was! I remember it like it was yesterday. We had an early morning appointment and had to keep the sex of baby Vaughan a secret until we saw our parents (and one aunt and uncle) that night. Lawrence knew all along that the baby was a boy since his gene pool is dominated by males. I thought it was a girl until the night before our ultrasound when I had a dream about a little boy (playing out in the yard finding worms). I do not think either of us stopped smiling that day.

One year ago today, Lawrence surprised me by creating this blog. What a wonderful place to share the goings on of our growing family and to have a journal to remind us of all these special moments.

What a great year full of incredible blessings! I cannot wait to see what the future holds!

Pumpkin Patch

Today, Vaughan and Mom went to the Pumpkin Patch to pick out V's first ever Halloween pumpkin. We got to the patch before they opened and got these cute pics. And as a sidebar, Vaughan *LOVES* wearing hats and when he wears them he does not try to pull them off. Good thing, because, this bald baby has quite a collection!
