Tortola, BVI

Lawrence and I spent a week (December 8-15) on the island of Tortola in the British Virgin Islands. We went with some of his family (16 of us in total) and let me tell you, I cannot wait to go back.

We left MEM at 5:50am on Saturday. We got to "the islands" after a ferry ride from St. Thomas. It was on that Ferry ride where I discovered the refreshing Carib beer. We got to the hotel and discovered that we had an incredible view of the ocean (no less than 15 feet away).

Some Highlights of the week:

-I snorkeled for the 1st time in Smuggler's Cove. I was very nervous, but I survived and really enjoyed it. Too bad I only saw about 5 fish. I snorkeled at least 3 more times, in The Baths, The Indians and The Caves. I saw some of the most incredible fishes and even a stingray!

-Wild life...chickens, sheep and goats roam the streets. I mean it was not unusal to see a chicken in a restaurant while eating lunch.

-Carib Beer, Rum Punch, Bushwacker...drinking, drinking and more drinking.

-Awesome views. As I mentioned, our balcony had incredible views. While exploring the island I took some great pics (like 300+). Rainbows were also seen frequently, with the highlight being a double rainbow.

It was definately a trip that I will not forget anytime soon.

Jenny,
Better late than never. I just read your comments about our trip to Tortola. I agree with you, it was a wonderful time with the family. And the first and last one I spent in Tortola with Ed. Not sure you knew that but I chose only to remember the good times and we had plenty of those. So glad you both had a great time in Tortola.
Love Aunt Peggy
